About Me
Hi, I’m Amanda Fredrickson, a registered dietitian based in Portland, Oregon.
I’ve been a registered dietitian since 2020, starting my career in hospital settings where I saw firsthand how limited nutrition interventions could be once people were already very sick. What stood out most was how few of my patients had received even basic nutrition education—often not even for conditions like diabetes or heart disease, where nutrition plays a central role. This inspired me to shift toward prevention and long-term wellness, where nutrition guidance can be more timely, empowering, and effective.
As a Pacific Northwest native, I feel deeply connected to this region and its emphasis on health, nature, and community. I’ve love being active and spend my free time running, cycling, and rock climbing—nothing elite, just movement that brings joy.
I also love everything related to food—gardening, cooking, and, of course, eating. Some of my favorite foods are pizza, a home-made salad, and seasonal fruit—especially apples, peaches, and cherries! Travel is another passion of mine, which I view as an opportunity to deepen my appreciation for culture, community, and food traditions. At home, I share my life with my partner who came into our relationship with limited nutrition knowledge. I’ve enjoyed supporting him in building confidence in the kitchen, learning the foundations of nutrition, and making choices that support his health and fitness goals. We also have an elderly, blind dog who’s a constant reminder of how patience and small daily efforts can make a big difference in quality of life.
Connection is at the core of how I practice. I believe that slowing down, focusing on what truly matters, and returning to the basics can have the biggest impact. Nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. What matters most is creating a supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and equipped to take small, meaningful steps toward better health.
